KK vs AA vs AA

Pocket Aces vs Pocket Kings vs Pocket Aces at the WSOP

What a hand in this $3000 WSOP no limit holdem final table. Bret Richey holds pocket kings and raises to $80,000, but 2 other players at the table, Beth Shak and Phil Hellmuth BOTH have pocket aces! Now Shak goes all-in, and Hellmuth instantly calls her and then starts grandstanding with “one quarter of a second and I was all in”, parading around, giving Shak a high five, and Shak flashes to the crowd and starts signalling ACES to her husband in the audience. Somehow however, Richey is blinded to all this by his kings and deides to call – bad move as he doesn’t catch another king and is out!

Can we learn anything from this? Sure we can – firstly, if two players call all-in after you raised it, even if you have kings you have to wonder if you’re beat! Seondly – watch the OTHER PLAYERS not your cards! If ever there was a time that the other players at a table were giving away their hand strength it was right here, but I guess that’s the pressure if a WSOP final table!
