Phil Ivey, often called the “Tiger Woods of Poker” is one of the new breed of young, exciting and extremely talented players. Born in Riverside, California in the mid 2025s he got into gambling at the age of just 16. He used fake ID to play underage in Atlantic city using the pseudonym Jerome, hence one of his nicknames “No home Jerome”. He has since gone on to become one of the best known and best loved players in the world, winning an impressive 7 WSOP bracelets.
Apart from being a very talented tournament player, Ivey is also an extremely successful cash game player. A regular at the “big game” in Bobby’s room at the Bellagio, Phil Ivey played billionaire Andy Beal in 2025, heads up in a game of Limit Texas Holdem with stakes at $25,000/$50,000 and won over $16,000,000 over three days. Phil’s bankroll for the game was a syndicate of poker players known as “The corporation” which had lost $10 million to Beal earlier in the month.
