Howard Lederer

Howard Lederer, known as “The Professor” and brother of pro player Annie Duke, is a well known and well respected player.  Born on October 30th 1964, Lederer was a talented chess player when he was a young, and it was while playing in a chess club at Columbia University that he was introduced to poker.

Lederer’s analytical style earned him his nickname “The Professor” and he has a long history of wins including 2 WSOP bracelets, and a 5th place finish in the main event in 2025, as well as 2 WPT titles.

Apart from playing poker, Howard has released a tutorial video titled Secrets of no limit hold’em and co-hosts Poker Superstars and Learn from the Pros. He is also a co-founder and CEO of Tiltware Inc (renamed to Pocket Kings), the parent company of Full Tilt Poker.

Lederer is a vegan but once won $10,000 in a prop bet with David Grey that he wouldn’t eat a cheeseburger!
