To celebrate they upped the guaranteed prize pool for their big Sunday tournament from $1.5 million to $4 million, but that attracted so many players (36,169 to be precise) that the prize pool ended up being a whopping $7.2 million!
This was by far the biggest Sunday Million in history, and the winner “RichieRichZH” walked away with a cool $1.1 million – that’s more than the winner of all but three of last year’s WSOP events – but the buy-in was only $215! That equates to earning $84,556 per hour for the tournament – not a bad day’s work!
RichieRichZH was dealt 33 in the hole for the final hand, and he called his opponent’s all-in. The cards were flipped and it was 33 vs A4 making it virtually a coin flip, which RichieRichZH won. His opponent in the heads up, Lankeshwar, took second prize of $754,775.
