Annie Duke added a major title to her impressive resume on Sunday when she became the first woman to win the National Heads Up Poker Championship. Defeating Erik Seidel in the final, and beating an impressive field including 13 WSOP main event winners such as Phil Hellmuth, Greg Raymer, Chris Ferguson and Joe Cada to name just a few, Annie took first prize of a cool half a million.
The final was decided as a best of three with Annie taking the first round with big slick. Seidel equalised in the second round and in the third and final match Duke’s pocket nines held up against A2 and she took the title and the prize money, with Seidel taking the $250,000 runners up prize.
The championship will be shown on NBC, starting on April 18th at midday ET.
