Full House

A full house, sometimes called a full boat, is a strong poker hand consisting of three of a kind, and a pair.  For example, three queens and two eights (as pictureed below) which can also be referred to as queens full of eights, or simply queens full.

If two players show down a full house, the one with the highest ranking three of a king wins.  So, for example, 99977 would beat 77799.  If two hands have the same 3 of a kind (which is possible in games using community cards, such as Texas Hold’em) then the highest pair wins.  So, for example, 99988 would beat 99966.

There are 3,744 possible full houses, with the probability of being dealt one being 0.14%

It is the 4th highest ranking hand in a standard game of poker, beaten only by Quads (4 of a kind), a straight flush, and a royal flush.

In Texas Hold’em, a full house is possible any time the board is paired.
