If you’re already a profitable poker player there are 2 ways you can increase your hourly profits – you can move up to higher stakes, but that puts more of your bankroll on the line, and you’re likely to run into better opponents. The other option is to play more than one table at a time…
Before we start, please make sure that if you do decide to go ahead and multi-table that you are firing on all cylinders because multi tabling is an extremely taxing and demanding process and as such should not be approached unless you are actually up for the task at hand. Make sure you are well watered and fed, and energised before you hit the tables and if need be, have a supply of energy drinks at the ready to provide you with a much needed boost of energy at a crucial time.
Make sure that you come up with a clearly defined plan and that most importantly, that you stick to it rigidly. This will help keep you focused and disciplined and will help prevent against you making too many stupid mistakes. Another thing you need to be very scrupulous about achieving is ensuring that you stick solely to the level you are comfortable at. If you find you are getting loss after loss at the low stake tables, why jump up to the higher stake league?
Every online poker player can benefit from the assistance and objective input of a dear and trusty friend: poker playing software. Two of the best known of these are PokerTracker and PokerEdge and with good reason: they provide the player with cutting edge information when and where they need it most, matching precision with quality and accuracy. Not sure how to tackle a particular opponent? Take a look at his AF (Aggression Factor) and you will be able to gauge the likelihood that he is bluffing in a particular situation. It will give you an invaluable insight into your opponents mind and what makes them tick, and therefore from there you can make much wiser and cost effective decisions.
Make sure that you do not try to play too many games at once, other wise you will stretch yourself way too thin and you will suffer for it. Start with just 2 tables and slowly build up. Track your results and see whether you’re more profitable with 2 tables or 3, then with 3 or 4 – until you find a level you’re comfortable and profitable with.
Make sure that you clearly establish a goal or an objective of some description before you start out playing, as this will help keep you level and ensure that you do not get too carried away at any particular time. Please ensure that the goals you set are not too high or lofty otherwise you will badly struggle to achieve them meaning that you will sustain a further dent to your self-esteem and your confidence.
Last but no means least, make sure that you do not let your emotions get the better of you, because if you do then you might as well consign yourself to the loser's deck immediately because you have lost control. If you let your rivals see how rattled you are, they will pursue that advantage like a doberman and they will NOT let go until they have taken you for every single penny you own. If you find yourself flagging in any respect, make sure that you do not let this spoil your hard work, all you need to do is take a little break away from the computer and get your head straight. The great thing about onlin poker is there will always be a game for you when you come back!
